Meet Our Summer Staff
Every summer Camp Jorn YMCA hires a staff of remarkable young men and women to serve as counselors, activity and trip leaders. Many are former campers, many are new to Camp Jorn, but all are committed to making every camper’s experience fun, memorable and affirming.
Haley Fritsche, Summer Day Camp Director
I feel like I've treated the last couple summers as my last at CJ but, here I am again, preparing for my seventh summer as a staff member after six as a camper. I am a believer in the power of camp and its ability to nurture children with relationships, provide them with a healthy outlet to stressors, and educate children with skills that will last a lifetime. This summer I am excited to continue to develop and better the Day Camp program as the Day Camp Director. While I am from Lake Tomahawk, WI, only 40 minutes from Jorn, camp will always feel like I completely different world.
In the Fall of 2021, I will be completing my college career at UW-Whitewater as I student teach in three different situations to complete my degree in Early Childhood Education. If you haven't caught on, kiddos are my passion but, I also love traveling and playing with my puppy, Polly. I cannot wait to spend sunny days on Rest Lake with your campers this summer!
Joe Raasch, Summer Resident Camp Director
Joe Raasch, born in Lake County Illinois, grew up with a passion and love for the outdoors. This love for nature was brought on from the summers he spent as a camper and staff member at Camp Jorn! He spent seven years as a camper, four years working through camps TEVA, LIT and CIT leadership programs and has been on the summer camp staff since 2016. The last two summers on staff was spent in Leadership positions helping develop and maintain the leadership programs. Currently, he's working for his degree in Communications studies with an Outdoor Recreation and Leadership management minor at Northern Michigan University. Outside of school and camp, Joe enjoys hiking, making music and spending time with friends and family.
Hello! My name is Carly. I have lived in Minocqua, Wisconsin for about 13 years. I enjoy being outdoors, and being with my friends and family. I have attended Camp Jorn YMCA every summer since I can remember. I will be a freshman at UW Madison this fall. This will be my second summer on staff, and I am so excited! I will be working as a Day Camp counselor this summer and I can’t wait to get to know all of the kids!
Hi my name is Mackenzie. I was born and raised in North Carolina, and 2021 will be my second summer coming up north to work at Camp Jorn. I look forward to spending a summer with good friends, and seeing the awesome campers!
Each summer they come from across the United States (and the globe), to create a culture of caring, respect and kindness
Many have specialized skills or certifications, including Red Cross life-guarding, Wilderness First aid, and others. In addition to instructing activities and leading cabin-life, our staff serve as mentors and role models to their campers.
