Summer of 2022 Employment Opportunities
Roles Open: Male Resident Camp Counselor/ Male TEVA Counselor
Base Rate of Pay: $325 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
- Work with a group of campers each session
- Provide support and leadership as appropriate in a variety of activities throughout the summer
- Committed to learning and growing in different areas/activities as appropriate
- At least 18 years of age preferred
Roles Open: Day Camp Counselor
Base Rate of Pay: $425 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
- Work with a group of campers each session
- Provide support and leadership as appropriate in a variety of activities throughout the summer
- Committed to learning and growing in different areas/activities as appropriate
- Day Camp Staff that choose to live off site will be allocated an additional $100 per week
- At least 18 years of age preferred
Roles Open: Assistant Waterski Instructor
Base Rate of Pay: $350 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and instruct waterskiing lessons in accordance with Camp Jorn guidelines.
- Uphold and maintain USA Waterski and ACA standards in regards to aquatic activities.
- Assist with safety through regular maintenance checks of equipment and facilities and
repairs as needed. - Manage campers, counselors, and skiers from boat.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with campers; helping them connect with each
other and to Camp Jorn YMCA. - Other duties as assigned.
- Extra responsibilities include set up and leadership of a specific area(s) before, during, and after camp sessions
- Applicant should have experience preparing and facilitating area activities
- Provide overall leadership and training for other staff in areas
- Must provide certification and/or documents/letters certifying experience in areas
- At least 18 years of age preferred
Roles Open: Sailing Instructor
Base Rate of Pay: $350 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with leading, planning, preparing, and general program operations in accordance with Camp Jorn guidelines.
- Responsible for providing a safe, high quality environment for all campers and staff through maintaining compliance with program policies, procedures and schedules.
- Aids in the development of program curriculum and implementation.
- Supervise and provide guidance to program staff and counselors.
- Serve as a resource for program and other leadership staff.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with campers; helping them connect with each other and to Camp Jorn YMCA.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Extra responsibilities include set up and leadership of a specific area(s) before, during, and after camp sessions

Roles Open: Waterfront Director
Base Rate of Pay: $450 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, oversee, and instruct swimming, swimming lessons and day camp swimming in accordance
with Camp Jorn guidelines. - Uphold and maintain ACA and American Red Cross standards in regards to aquatics activities.
- Ensure safety through regular maintenance checks of equipment and facilities and repairs as
needed. - Plan, run, and debrief aquatic emergency drills such as lost swimmer and rescues.
- Supervise and provide guidance to swim instructors, lifeguards and other program staff.
- Manage swimming, swimming lesson, and day camp swimming schedule.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with campers; helping them connect with each other and to
Camp Jorn YMCA. - Review and revise the Camp Jorn waterfront procedures, guidelines, and guard plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have certification or significant experience in area(s).
- Must provide certification and/or documents/letters certifying experience in areas
- Will have supervisory responsibilities and must have supervisory and/or extensive leadership experience.
- Must have resident or day camp experience – at least 2 summers preferred.
- At least 21 years of age preferred
Roles Open: Day Camp Assistant Directo
Base Rate of Pay: $500 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
- Must provide documents/letters certifying experience in areas
- Will have supervisory responsibilities and must have experience in leadership positions.
- Must have resident or day camp experience – at least 2 summers preferred.
- Applicant must be creative and hardworking
- Applicant should have experience speaking in front of large groups
- At least 21 years of age preferred
Base Rate of Pay: $300 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
- Work with the Property Manager and Camp Leadership staff to ensure a clean, safe, organized and well maintained facility for the use of program services and residential living.
- Using equipment as needed for cleaning, mowing or facility repairs as directed.
- Understand and apply principals of cleaning and sanitation of living accommodations and bathrooms throughout the facility.
- Use safety equipment and precautions to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with campers; helping them connect with each other and to Camp Jorn YMCA.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least 17 years of age preferred
Base Rate of Pay: $320 per week/before eligible bonuses applied
- Work with Food Services Director and Assistant Cook to prepare the daily meals, following all ServSafe protocols.
- Assist in receiving food orders, putting away and organizing the cooler/freezer and dry storage.
- Assist in food service during meals.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen and dining hall.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with campers; helping them connect with each other and to Camp Jorn YMCA.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least 17 years of age preferred
Staff Pay
Camp Jorn YMCA salaries are based on responsibility, experience, and certifications. Pay is decided by the base rate and the number of bonuses the applicant qualifies for.
Returner/previous employment at other camp | $25/week/per years worked | Staff who are returning to the same position (held for at least 6 weeks the summer prior), or for a new hire that had an equivalent position in another setting, is eligible. For example, a 3rd year Counselor would receive a $50/week bonus |
Lifeguard* | $20/week | Staff are only eligible for LG Bonus if the certification is not a job requirement AND their position may include direct supervision of campers in the water |
CPR/First Aid, | $20/week | Staff are only eligible for CPR/FA Bonus if the certification is not a job requirement AND their position may include direct supervision of campers |
Wilderness First Aid | $20/week | Staff are only eligible for WFA Bonus if the certification is not a job requirement AND their position may include direct supervision of campers in backcountry settings |
Note: If Camp Jorn YMCA provides or pays for job-related training, staff doesn't receive an equivalent certification boost. | ||
21+ | $10/week | If are 21+ years of age and employed at camp, an additional $10 will be added |
6+ Weeks | $20/week | Staff who work 6 or more weeks during the primary camp season and complete their contract will receive a bonus of $20 per week worked. Does not include staff training and is paid out at the end of summer. |
Staff Referral | $150/per referral @ end of summer | Staff Referral must complete their contract of at least 6 weeks. Referral bonus will be paid out at the end of summer. |
Off site housing | $100 | Staff that choose to live off site; IE any position that doesn’t require the overnight supervision of campers, will be allocated an additional $100 |
