FAQ's TO HELP YOU PLAN

Check in time is at 2:30 p.m. on the first day of your rental and check out is at 2:00 p.m. on the last day of your rental.

The amphitheater seats 140 people comfortably with the existing seating structure. You are welcome to add chairs in the front, back or sides to increase the number of guests. There is electricity in the amphitheater for you to plug-in sound equipment.

 

The Dining Hall seats 150 people comfortably. You could add additional seating, but it makes the space feel a bit cramped, especially if you would like room for a bar or dance floor. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking, serving and dining equipment and dishes. 

 

We have air conditioners in the Dining Hall that can be used during your event. There are many windows and double doors to the porch if you would like a natural breeze as well.  All of our cabins have windows and fans.

 

We have 25 8’ rectangular tables and 150 padded folding chairs. The rectangular tables and chairs are included with the dining hall rental. You can rent round tables and nicer chairs from a rental company if you prefer.  We also have 14 outdoor octagon picnic table that can be used for outdoor seating.

 

Camp Jorn is a smoke free facility.  

 

A camp host will be on site for set up and on call for your event.   

 

You will have access to existing fire pits on property and they are stocked with firewood.

 

Yes, however it  is very small and takes about 24 hours to completely replenish itself, so there is often not enough ice for all of your needs. You can purchase ice in town and store in our freezer.

 

We do not. At Camp Jorn, you are allowed to choose your own caterer.  We realize there are many wonderful options out there to meet different budgets. We can also provide you with a list of caterers we love to work with and who are familiar with our space if you are looking for guidance. All caterers must have proof of a SafeServ certificate. You are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning caused by the caterer.

 A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to place the reservation. 

If the need arises to reschedule your event, we must be notified in writing 45 or more days prior to the event. Moreover, the new date must be established, and the event must take place within one year of the date that was originally scheduled for previous payments to be applied. If the date is not reestablished and the event does not occur within this time frame, the event will be deemed a cancellation and our cancellation policy will take effect, and no money paid will be refunded.

Full payment is due at least 2 weeks prior to event. 

WIFI is available in select facilities, however, due to our remote location it is not as fast or reliable as WIFI in the city.

The program center, long house, and the dining hall have wifi.

 

The majority of our buildings have bathrooms indoors. We also have a modern bathhouse with toilets and showers that are centrally located.

 

Manitowish Waters and the surrounding area have a variety of lodging options. The Lodge at Manitowish Waters and the Pea Patch Motel offer a motel experience. In addition, there are a number of resorts and private cabin rentals if you are interested in a more authentic “up north” experience. Visit www.manitowishwaters.org/stay for a list of available lodging. Minocqua, Mercer and Boulder Junction also provide additional lodging possibilities. 

 

Camp Jorn has 2 pet friendly unit: Squirrel/Rabbit

Pets must be kept on a leash when on Camp Jorn Property. Pets must not be left unattended unless kenneled. Pets must be up to date on vaccinations. Records must be sent to the retreat coordinator prior to guests stay. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless Camp Jorn YMCA from all liability and damage suffered as a result of the guest's pet. Camp Jorn reserves the right to charge guest's account commensurate to the cost of such damages. If a pet is found in a non-pet friendly unit, guest(s) will be evicted, no refund will be given, and a cleaning fee of $100 will be charged.

 

We do not allow sparklers, fireworks or wish lanterns due to the fire hazard and debris they leave behind. Please do not use confetti, rice, or glitter inside camp buildings. All decorations must be removed at the end of the event, unless previously arranged with camp staff; additional fees may apply. Candles are permitted, they MUST be in an enclosed hurricane jar or appropriate container.

 

Outdoor music needs to be turned off no later than Midnight to be respectful of our neighbors. Sound travels alarming well across the lake. Camp Jorn must enforce this policy.    

 

Alcoholic beverages are allowed on site  for special events with exclusive use of the site.  They must be included them in your event insurance. You are allowed to serve beer, wine and liquor to your guests. However, you are not allowed to sell (including tip jars) unless you have acquired a license from the state of Wisconsin and a licensed bartender.  Alcohol is not allowed on site Monday through Friday from 7:30 am—6:00 pm. 

Parking is available in designated lots and gravel areas only. Cars are not permitted to drive around the field or on camp trails. Please make any special arrangements for parking/driving with camp staff prior to event.

 

You are responsible for gathering and bagging all trash and recycling and placing in the appropriate dumpster on site.  Any tables or chairs that were moved need to be put back in their original place.  All decorations must be picked up and removed.

Fire Extinguishers, Smoke Detectors, and Carbon Monoxide Detectors can be found in every building.  Weather radios are available upon request.  You are responsible for monitoring weather and following all precautions as stated. 

In the event of a severe weather, please seek shelter in the basement of the Dining Hall.

First Aid Kits are located in the kitchen or kitchenette area of each cabin. In our seasonal cabins they are located on the dressers, in our yurts they are located on the rafter next to the door. An AED is located in the Dining Hall next to the main office.

All water activities are prohibited at Camp Jorn without Camp Jorn staff member present.

If you are the last one at a campfire pit, please make sure that the fire is completely out.  Splash or sprinkle water on it and then stir until ashes are cold. 

Please do not put any trash in the fire.
