NEW!! OUTPOST PROGRAM: Ages 12-15

Camp Jorn’s Outpost program offers older campers the chance to challenge themselves with extended wilderness camping experiences. Removed from the distractions of technology, campers build resilience while gaining skills in teamwork, trust, and communication.

The heart of the session is a beginner-intermediate level 4 day, 3 night overnight camping trip. Outpost campers begin their journey at Camp Jorn learning basic wilderness living skills and “leave no trace” principles. On the trip, participants practice these skills while backpacking, canoeing or rock climbing and whitewater rafting in a variety of pristine wilderness areas.

Time at Camp Jorn- What will their time at camp look like?

The time spent at Camp allows the group to begin to form and prepare for their time on the trail. They will have two full days of structured time in preparation for departure on the third full day. The first days of this session are spent at Camp Jorn getting to know groupmates, learning to operate tents and other camping gear ,and practicing trip specific skills (canoeing, backpacking). On the third day, they pack up and head off on their adventure.

Outpost Meals- What does meal time look like?

Whether you’re portaging through swampy terrain, paddling whitewater rapids, or hiking mountainous trails, you’re going to get hungry. So providing high-nutrition, high-energy meals is a vital part of the Outpost experience. All of our trips are carefully planned and provisioned for the unique demands of each destination, duration, activity and itinerary. On the trail, Outpost campers learn to prepare tasty nutritious meals over a campfire or stove wherever they find themselves. And, while the hike or paddle may be challenging, a satisfying meal makes everything right. And everything tastes better on the trail.
