Camp Jorn YMCA has made a commitment to ensure a positive and safe camping experience for each child who attends our summer program. Our focus on character development helps youth to grow in the areas of our 4 core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Campers choose 3 instructional classes for the week ensuring growth, progression, and competence. Days are rounded out with cabin activities such as trail rides, tubing, sailing, cabin challenges, sports and much more. Evenings are a time for everyone to come together for all-camp activities such as campfires, skits, group games, etc. Each cabin group may also participate in a cook out or overnight on or near Camp Jorn.

Campers who are looking to get the most out of their Camp Jorn experience can now enroll in our two-week session. During their two weeks campers will follow the traditional camper schedule along with a variety of activities designed to roll one week over to the next. Each cabin group may also participate in a cook out or overnight on or near Camp Jorn. The weekend will bring relaxation and with time for tubing, laundry, swimming and more!

Camp Jorn’s TEVA program offers older campers increased independence and responsibility, with some of the familiarity and routine of traditional summer camp. The TEVA program is for 13-15 year old’s to challenge themselves in their CJ experience. Campers will live in CJ’s Yurt Village. It is set slightly apart from the main camp area and offers living space and a bathhouse.
TEVA Campers follow a Main Camp schedule supplemented with challenging teen activities. Campers will eat many meals in our Dining Hall, but have the option to cook some of their meals at Yurt Village. The group will participate in traditional camp classes for one week and spend the other week participating in teen programming culminating in a short off-camp adventure trip. Teen-only evening programs, bonding time through low or high ropes, and an adventure trip are highlights of the TEVA experience. With a co-ed group of participants, campers will operate as a single unit for some meals and activities, and as individual Yurts for others. TEVA campers will have an experience to grow through outdoor adventure, teamwork and group living.

The highlight of the session is a beginner level 4 day, 3 night canoe trip or backpacking trip (weather permitting). TEVA campers learn the basics of paddling and/or backpacking and wilderness living at Camp Jorn while gaining skills in teamwork, trust, and communication. On the trip, participants practice their canoeing/backpacking skills, enjoy the Northwoods scenery, and learn introductory camping and leave no trace skills.

Through hands-on training and group initiatives, the Camp Jorn’s LIT program focuses on cooperation, self-discovery, and leadership skills. Throughout the LIT program campers engage in activities and discussions about types of leadership, communication styles and methods, service work, team-building and other leadership skills while still participating in camp activities. Campers live in platform tents and follow a semi traditional camp schedule while participating in a 4 -5 day wilderness trip.

Living in camper cabins as well as our platform tents, campers develop a code of conduct for their group living experience, as well as spend time on Jorn’s low ropes challenge course to solidify the group experience. The highlight of the session is a beginner level six-day-five-night trip. On the trip, participants learn how to serve others and practice their leadership skills. C.I.T.s are also an integral part of the counseling team, and spend time in peer group discussions sharing cabin experiences, addressing concerns, and developing skills on how to transition to the role of cabin counselor.
Trip Description: The highlight of the session for our CIT’s is an intermediate level six day, five night canoe trip on the Namekagon River. The Namekagon River is located near Hayward, WI and is a part of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway. On the trip, CIT’s will extend their knowledge about backcountry canoeing and learning how to be an effect counselor on a trip, all while enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Northern Wisconsin.

Get ready for Adventure! During their two weeks campers will follow the semi-traditional camper schedule along with planned adventure activities. Campers will get to experience climbing and will roll over into the next week with an adventurous whitewater rafting trip! During hold over weekend campers will explore the Menominee River on raft, camp over night and then return to enjoy their second week of fun at Camp Jorn! Campers must be at least 75lbs to attend for safety reasons!

Are you ready to start “horsin’ around?” Camp is offering this unique opportunity to female campers who have a passion for the stable life. Campers will get to adopt one of our 12 horses for the week to gain experience in riding, feeding, and overall ownership of a horse. Activities may include grooming, veterinary care, and stable management all while getting more riding experience.
Please note, that we must have 10 campers registered to hold this session.
Horsemanship Class, Sessions 1-6, Ages 10+
At Camp Jorn, our horse program emphasizes fun, safety and skill development. You’ll learn a wide range of new horsemanship skills, adding new challenges as you are ready. Our experienced staff provides kids with the chance to make new friends, gain responsibility and increase self-confidence; all while improving on their horsemanship and riding ability. Horseback riding classes are available to all ages & abilities. We have small group classes with individual instruction to provide the best progression for your camper. *TEVA & LIT campers can sign up for 1 week of riding (during their first week). 2 week campers may sign up for both weeks.

Waterski Class, Sessions 1-6, Ages 10+
Through our Camp Jorn experienced instructors and high quality program, we lead, promote, and support the development and growth of Waterskiing at Camp Jorn. Step by step skill progression allows us to deliver individualized participant progress tracking and ensure that each camper reaches their full potential year after year! *TEVA & LIT campers can sign up for 1 week of waterski (during their first week). 2 week campers may sign up for both weeks.
